Volunteer Claire Trekking 715km for Life NI

Claire McGinnity, 18, has been volunteering for Life.ni for 2 years now and has embarked on a 715km hike from Malin Head to Mizen Head to raise money for Life.ni

She will try to update us on her adventures over on www.thechroniclesofclaire.com/walkforlife

Here is what she had to say today:

On Sunday the 6th of September 2015 I will begin my hike from the northernmost point of Ireland (Malin Head, Co. Donegall) to the southernmost point of Ireland (Mizen Head, Co. Cork) in aid of LIFE NI.

The route I’m taking is approximately 715km long and will take me in excess of 24 days. I am undertaking this venture alone, aside from the warm companionship of my beloved collie, Ali. Our lodgings for the journey is a humble Blackthorn one man tent and I aim to restock food and other amenities just 2-3 times throughout the expedition.

What It’s All About

I have been volunteering in the LIFE NI charity shop for 2 years now and am really passionate about the work they do. They provide unparalleled financial and emotional support to mothers navigating unplanned pregnancies through counselling, housing support and much more.

I have decided to devote this small portion of my ‘Gap Year’ to help raise awareness for LIFE. We are a small charity so every little bit can make a huge difference.

Please take the time to find out all about this wonderful organisation at www.lifeni.org.uk.

We wish Claire a very safe journey and we cannot wait to hear about all her adventures!!
